Welcome to The Friends of the Mitchell Community Public Library
Individuals, organizations, and businesses are encouraged to provide support for the programs and activities of the Mitchell Library.  
Projects supported by the Friends have included:
- Microfilming the Mitchell Times at year's end
- Providing refreshments for library programs for children and adults
- Sponsoring the summer reading program for children
- Sponsoring the winter reading program for adults
- Sponsoring the end-of-summer Scholastic Book Fair
- Raising money for the library's endowment fund
- Purchased a bird feeder and bird bath to set in the library's Main Street flower bed
- Selected and purchased from the Persimmon Festival Art Show (held in the library during the week of the festival) Phyllis Westfall's painting "The Babysitter" which is on permanent display at the library. Phyllis has been an active library supporter and has used her interviewing talents to further the library's oral history archives
The Friends of the Mitchell Library organization meets the second Monday, every other month at 7 p.m. in the library meeting room. The dates for 2007 are February 12, April 9, June 11, August 13, October 15 (the library will be closed for staff training on October 8), and December 10. The Friends of the Library will have a membership drive in March and April 2007. Please join the FOL and support your library! The FOL yard sale will be on Thurs. April 19 and Fri. April 20, 2007. Call the library for more information.
If you are interested in participating in the group's money raising activities or would like to donate funds to the group, notify a staff person who will provide you with the information you need.
